May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. We can do our part by sharing our stories and struggles with others to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, supporting the mental health of our loved ones by checking in on them and giving them a safe space to talk, and prioritizing our own mental health by engaging in healthy habits. Start your day with an affirming, compassionate truth about yourself…reset your stressful moments with some slow deep breaths when the anxiety starts to spin…catch and change your negative self-talk before it takes you down the rabbit hole…end your day by reflecting on five things for which you are grateful. These are small steps that can help to ground your body and restore your mind throughout the day.
